First Chorus on Song at Caulfield

An excited group of owners left Caulfield yesterday with confidence going through the rest of the winter with tough mare First Chorus making a one act affair of the F&M BM78 over 1600m.

After a disappointing run on a firm track at Flemington last start, we got very favourable conditions on the rain affected Caulfield track and First Chorus took full advantage. Jumping from the widest alley, Jamie Mott was forced to take his medicine and ease to the back of the small field. The race was run at a sedate tempo, leaving us with a few heart flutters on the turn where she was scrubbed up out wide. Those were short-lived as once she balanced up she put the race away within a few strides and streaked away to score a comfortable 2.25L victory.

This is a mare we can see continuing along her improvement path and should graduate to Group racing goals this time next year. Her next assignment may be as soon as next week with another F&M race at Flemington a possibility.
